It's My Life, I Can Do What I Want -- Right?
So, take a look at your to-do list for today. For tomorrow. Next month.
Check out your calendar. Do you see all of the things that you have coming up. Did you consider God and what his plans are for you?
"But Pastor Meiko, its MY life and I can do what I want."
It can be a lot. It can be overwhelming. Doing life can be difficult especially when the plans may be our own.
I get the great opportunity to sit with a lot of people just like you to help walk them through difficult decisions, or coach them through next steps. And so often when I ask whether they have sought God's counsel through prayer, the answer is no.
It is always fascinating to me how we, yep myself included, feel as though we know better than God. You know what I'm talking about. That burning feeling you get when God tells you to go left and you still go right -- because obviously your way is better than the God who sees the outcome before you even made your decision.
Why do we refuse to allow God into our decision making, into our plans? Could it have something to do with pride? Could it have something to do with lack of faith? Lack of trust?
When was the last time that your plan ended up better than God's?
Personally, I have these battles with God often. He and I have a unique relationship where he says to do something, then I fuss, then he shows up in his Word, and I say -- FINE! Yep, I throw a tantrum. Because ultimately I know His way is perfect and His plans are greater but because I can't see or get that instant gratification of the decision or plan, I often have a hard time trusting His. But that's just me.
What about you? In which area of your life so you need to invite God to the table to consider His plans and what He has for you?
When we begin to acknowledge Him in everything that we do and begin to allow him to infiltrate our plans, the Bible says THEN our plans will succeed not maybe. They will.
